Ways Forward
In order to fulfill the objectives of the department and to support the department’s functions of licensing, regulating and monitoring the petroleum and petroleum products related business, PPRD will implement a wide range of activities which include the following;
• Adopting SOPs, Technical Standards and Specification for each petroleum and petroleum products related businesses operating in the midstream and downstream sector

Drafting necessary laws, rules and regulations
• Amending and reviewing the existing legislation and regulatory framework
•
Undertaking the necessary planning for the emergence of internationally accredited laboratories across the country
• Implementing online monitoring system for the whole petroleum and petroleum products supply chain by cooperating with relevant stakeholders
• Formulating and implementing Energy Security Strategies
• Drafting the sectorial development plans
• Upgrading the existing licensing and monitoring systems into online-based approaches
• Analyzing the petroleum and petroleum products market situation in global, regional and local scale

Setting up the database system for petroleum and petroleum products related statistics
• Promoting public awareness on regulations and safety concerns of petroleum and petroleum related businesses by cooperating with relevant departments
• Strengthening the regional and international energy cooperation
